Three-Year Extension of Prime Minister Rural Housing Scheme

On December 8, the central cabinet approved the continuation of the Gramin Awas Yojana for the next three years. This information was provided by Union Minister Anurag Thakur through a media briefing. The extension of the Prime Minister Rural Housing Scheme has been approved from March to March 2024. Now, eligible remaining citizens living in rural areas will be able to get a pucca house through this scheme. After the extension of this scheme, 155.75 lakh houses will be constructed. This will help in achieving the target of constructing 2.95 crore houses. The government will spend ₹198,581 crore on the construction of 155.75 lakh houses.

Objective of Prime Minister Rural Housing Scheme

The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to economically weaker sections of people living in rural areas who want to build their own pucca house but are unable to do so due to weak financial conditions. Now, under the Prime Minister Rural Housing Scheme 2024, the government will help these people realize their dream of building their own pucca house.
